Planting Seeds

In response to a blog I wrote about our PVMC staff encouraging students at a local elementary school during end of grade testing, I received an email from a former Wee Care teacher. “I always felt my years working was more of an outreach ministry than a job.” As we study evangelism let’s remember our tiny disciples! 

With the children’s vulnerability and unconditional trust in their teacher, Alison said it helped plant those initial seeds of ministry. For many children, Wee Care was their only exposure to hearing about Jesus. At Chapel they learned songs with hand motions and oftentimes you would later hear them quietly singing to themselves. They learned, “How Great Thou Art” with hand motions. The kids could relate to the message of the song by hand motions of "seeing the stars" and "hearing the rolling thunder" and all that the Creator and Savior made. The seeds were starting to take root, “then sings my soul!”

Alison’s final year at Wee Care, after many months of isolating and social distancing, they returned to school, in person. Their class adopted Matthew 37-40 as their Chapel chant. “Love God, Love People!" In the fall, the children stood on the outdoor stage (Covid) and sang, "How Great Thou Art" for all the staff and neighbors to hear! Pastor Tim told us Wee Care was a vital ministry and I took that to heart. I continued to plant seeds of discipleship in the young children so that they would become disciples that make disciples of others. Maybe God is nudging you to plant the seeds of hope in His tiny disciples
