I Want to Burn for You
In the Bridge service, we sang, “Refiner” by Maverick City Music. “...Clean my hands, purify my heart I wanna burn for you, only for You Take my life as a sacrifice I wanna burn for you, only for You You're a fire The refiner I wanna be consumed…” This preached a sermon to me!
After Mike and I lost two parents and I went through a year of cancer treatments, along with some other trials, a lady shared that we should feel so blessed that God was trying to refine us like gold. When a goldsmith polishes his gold he has to clean out all of the trash and impurities in the gold. He has to turn up the heat more to get rid of certain impurities. When he can see his reflection he knows it is refined. 1 Peter 1:7, “so then the tested genuineness of your faith…may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
The pain God allows in our life is purposeful, He wastes nothing. Because of the use of fire there will be fear in the process. As the heat intensifies in our life, we learn we need God. We learn to lean on Him and trust Him and we begin to see the “silver lining.” Malachi 3:3, "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify....and refine them like gold and silver." Our faith will be greater which is worth more than gold and will result in praise, glory and honor to Jesus! I know this to be true! There was wonderful joy, even in the midst of the fire. 1 Peter 1:8, “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy…” This is why I can thank Him for the hard times! He wastes nothing and brings good for His children! He is the Great Refiner!
