I Want to Be a Better Christian
When Ella got to camp, the cabin was empty and that was all it took for her to decide she wanted to go home. She was terrified. Finally two girls walked in and asked her to go for a walk. They were very welcoming and that is how a friendship started. Eventually, the group of girls became closer each day. Chronicles 28:20, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.”
The two best parts of camp are being a MAC (met at camp) when a youth and an elementary camper are big and little buddies. They have a MAC lunch, MAC dinner, MAC swim, MAC movie night, MAC Vespers and MAC dance. The younger kids learn to trust you and you become like an older sister. If they are scared they talk to you. The best part of being with the little kids is that you see God more because they are so innocent and happy. They are not worried about what other people think. They sing and pray and sometimes ask us to pray with them. When we go home we see them at church and hopefully the next year at camp.
The last night of camp Pastor Tim preached and got emotional during the prayer. (I have heard from many that this was a high and holy time and not many dry eyes.) He asked the kids to bow their heads and raise their hands if they wanted to give their life to Christ or rededicate their lives to Christ. Ella said her whole cabin raised their hands. This was the first time she ever really felt Christ! They all agreed that night that they want to become better Christians. When Ella got home she cried to her Mom because she was overwhelmed and felt God’s love so much. She got a new devotion book. While reflecting on her week she decided she wants to spend more time with friends at church, pray more and read the Bible more. Through these new friendships she wants to join them being a part of IGNITE.
