Imitators of Christ

If you watched Cole at Vacation Bible School you may wonder if he enjoyed it and may even think he didn’t get much out of it. Cole’s mom said he doesn't like crowds or loud noises which is what over 300 kids bring! When others sang and did arm motions, Cole’s hands were in his pockets.

BUT, when Cole got home, in his comfort zone, his parents saw what he took away from VBS. Cole loves to play school and has a “classroom” set up in the garage. Two of his neighborhood friends were his students. Cole brought up Stellar - Shine Jesus’ Light (the curriculum PVMC used) on YouTube! He was standing on a table (his stage) teaching his friends the VBS songs. He taught the books of the Bible and the fruits of the Spirit!

Our children imitate what they are around and that is what Cole was doing. Cole learned about the books of the Bible, the fruits of the Spirit and worshiped through song. Proverbs 22:6, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” We are called to teach our children about Jesus. Deuteronomy 11:19, “ Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

We want what is best for our kids and knowing Jesus and His Word is the best! As we love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind, we will use every opportunity to share it with them. Deuteronomy 6:7. “Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up…”

“Children are great imitators so let’s give them something great to imitate!”
