True Worship

In talking with Mrs. Carrie, our children’s minister shared that she wants the children to learn how to surrender to God, let Him in their heart and worship. She said there is a difference between learning His Word and connecting their hearts to His Word. Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.” It is the Lord you are serving. Maybe it would be easier as an adult if we learned this as a child. Pray for our youth and children, at Camp Singletary this week, that they are connecting His Word to their hearts.

We are to work heartily. This is easier if we remember that really in everything we do we are serving God. If we are dealing with difficult people, God has told us how to treat our enemies - with respect. When we are working for God we will be more thankful and grumble less. When we are working for God, we don’t don’t compare because our walk with God is individual. Comparisons can cause us to feel resentment or pride. This is another benefit our children receive when they are in plays and musicals, getting roles or solo parts.

Webster’s Dictionary defines worship as, “Worship is to honor with extravagant love and extreme submission”. Extravagant is the greatest, way beyond what’s normal! Extreme submission is to obey someone more than anyone else, no matter what! No matter what they ask! We can trust God no matter what He asks of us. Worship is honoring Him with our best! It is putting Him as our top priority over anyone because He is worthy! True worship is a matter of our heart! Let’s join our children in learning to truly worship!
