A Joyful Task Now

PVMC presented “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” featuring the children’s choir. Most were overwhelmed by how wonderful Whoville looked! Our set and props are amazing! The makeup was incredible! The Wee Cherubs got us into the Christmas spirit, singing, “Joy To The World!”

Evangelism is spreading the good news and that is what the children did through their Jesus Christ version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I invited four unchurched people to the musical and they invited another family. When they got here the children were so excited and saw some of their classmates and teachers. One of the four children said they want to be up there next year! I was sharing with Mrs. Carrie. Before praying over the children she explained to them that this is an opportunity to evangelize. They invited family, teachers, classmates and of all those people, you never know who hasn’t gotten to know Jesus Christ and this may be that ping moment for them. I will invite these two families to the Polar Express - another time to get comfortable in the church building and make new friends.

These events teach our children how to praise and that is not something they must wait until they’re older to do—it is their joyful task now. When Jesus arrived in the temple, the chief priests were aloof and reproachful, but not the kids. Matthew 21: 15, “But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant. Like us, when our children are involved in ministry their faith is being built! God is not calling us, or our children, to go to church but to be the church!
