We Gather Together
We gathered together for a multi congregational Thanksgiving worship service hosted by PVMC. The evening began with Pastor Barnett showing us how to do the “journey” and “thank you” turkey, the community choir whose voices were lifted to God. 2 Chronicles 5: 13, “The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: ‘He is good; his love endures forever.’ Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud…” Pastor Carlos read our scripture and prayed in Spanish and it was beautiful.
Reverend Bradley brought the message of blessings reminding us we are standing in need of them and they may come to us by bad boys! He read Luke 18: 1, “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” The parable of the persistent widow was told and the judge was a bad boy. Like the widow, we have no idea who the Lord is going to send our blessing through. It may be the bad boys. He prayed we would change our mind, change our heart so we can change our walk. Be careful who you boot out of your life because they may be the very person God sends to bring your blessing. God has placed people in our life that don’t act like us, believe like us or even like us. A blessing was brought to Moses by a bad boy, Pharaoh. Jesus is our blessing brought to us by a bad boy, Herod.
At the end of the service Reverend Bradley asked if there was someone who needed something from God but were not in a position to receive a blessing. Maybe they had not given their heart to God or it was a long time ago and they let go of His hand, since God never violates our free will. Tonight they could reunite and rededicate their life to God. Before he prayed He reminded us that God had already welcomed them to the family or back to the family. We gathered together to ask the Lord’s blessings!
