Maybe I Am Crazy

Growing up Craig had never been to camp. He never thought about going to camp with the youth because it would take a week’s vacation. God had Craig excited to drive the youth and now he is going to Surge with them! Deuteronomy 4:9, “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”

I walked into the hot kitchen and there was Craig Gross! He was the chief dishwasher and kept the water coolers filled along with anything else needed! What made him come to camp? He had put it off 45 years! He began thinking with his heart and not his mind. When he told his wife she asked, many times, if he was crazy and he responded, “probably.” Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Walk by faith, not sight.

About Singletary, Craig says, there is not much there - it’s desolate - just sand and cabins. I guess you get away from EVERYTHING! It’s a real experience. He doesn’t know why people love it - it’s hot! To other retired people, he says, give it a chance and let the kids show you about Jesus. It will build your faith! Matthew 18:3, “And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Craig said, “It is almost a call if you’re an adult. I guess I was called.” Craig says he is going back next year!

“Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate!”
