In The Prayer Room With God

Damon described what it feels like to sit in the Prayer Room and to spend time in prayer during a Worship Service:

“When I approach the door, I have an overwhelming sense of purpose – I am drawn to that room by the Holy Spirit. He has work for me to complete in that room.  As I push the indicator on the door from “Open” to “In Use”, I make my commitment to time with Him in prayer – reading His Word; contemplating His works, having a conversation with Him. Matthew 6:6, But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. “

I place my Bible in the chair, look at my worship bulletin for the sermon verses. I open the Bible to those verses before placing it back on the prayer table; next to the cross and under the portrait of Jesus. ..I review the ‘Suggestions For Your Time Of Prayer’ to remind myself of a potential path into a deep, intense prayer where my mind is clear of temporary things and is focused on the eternal. Nothing exists outside the walls of the Sanctuary.  My focus is on God. Psalm 145: 18, “The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.”

My worship that morning is to sit or kneel in the presence of God and in prayer with God; to cleanse and clear the worship space with prayers of praise for who He is; to fill the worship space with prayers of thanks for what He has done, for everyone who passes through the doors; to read His Word silently and aloud as part of my prayer to Him; to thank Him for the pastors, the staff, the choir, the instrumentalists, and the A/V team who will be showing their faith by their works; to request guidance to the pastor who is proclaiming the Good News and to the listeners who will hear it that they will be changed by it.

My time in the Prayer Room is uplifting, refreshing, and fulfilling, like a drink of cool spring water on a hot summer day. It refreshes my soul.”
