Battlefields & Blessings

I thank God that we have religious freedom to attend a church that we choose. I can own a Bible. I choose who I marry. These freedoms have been protected by the members of the military. Most of us are able to put a face on a soldier. I remember watching my parents when my brother went to war and then made a career of it. Later, while their son was still serving, their grandson went to war. My grandmother watched two of her sons go at the same time. Families struggle with the thought of their soldier not coming home. Some come back radically changed due to living through horrible events. Their hearts have been broken for those who have suffered and died and they struggle with the memories. Many come back with physical injuries. What can we do? We can do what the Bible tells us to do. Pray for them and love them.

King David commanded armies and trusted in the Lord during these times. He wrote these words. Psalm 3: 1-8, “Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, ‘God will not deliver him.’ But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.” 

May we pray for our veterans to feel the supernatural love of Jesus to help them through tough times. Pray that Jesus will guide them into His precious peace that surpasses all understanding. Philippians 4: 7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
