The Lord Bless You and Keep You

Sunday morning we sang, “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe which comes from Numbers 6:24-26, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” We sang, “May His favor be upon you and a thousand generations Your family and your children and their children and their children.” A true blessing for graduation Sunday! At the end, we sang directly to the graduates!

“The Lord bless you” is so intimate. We have been blessed through Jesus with forgiveness; joy, peace, love and eternal life. 1 Peter 1:3, “...In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.“

“The Lord keep you”. He is our Keeper. John 17:12, “While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe…” Jude 1:24, “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling…”

“Make His face to shine upon you...” God's love endures forever. Jeremiah 31:3, “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love…”

“And be gracious to you...” God’s grace is His unmerited favor towards us even though we do not deserve anything at all from Him.

“the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” 2 Peter 1:3, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” He gives us peace. Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds…”

Graduates, God will bless you, keep you, be gracious to you and give you peace. Your church family is proud of you and we are here for you!

“Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about discovering who God created you to be.”
