New Member Reception

At the new member reception, Pastor Tim talks about Discipleship and our expectations. He says discipleship is truly being hooked on Jesus - I love this! There are three ways to keep us hooked on Jesus. We need to be hooked by a worship experience. We need to experience God with one another on a regular basis. We need to be hooked by a heart-learning experience. It is the transformation of the mind and heart. Romans 12: 1-2, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” The third way to keep hooked on Jesus is by a missional experience. This involves giving and service. This may be local or in another country.  These practices should be continuous to keep us tuned in and hooked on Jesus.

We are to give to God and to others. As members of Jesus’ family, we get benefits. Our discipleship (membership) vows are to God. When new members join they are asked if they will give of their prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. PVMC has something for your head, heart and hands through our many discipleship opportunities through small groups, Sunday School classes, Bible studies and other classes and ministries.
